The Koppers Care Home is a CQC-registered family-run residential care home specialising in the care of people with dementia. It is set in one of the most beautiful villages in East Devon.

Mr Martin Thomas, Director
Martin was born in the UK but has lived abroad for much of his life and was educated at international schools and completed university studies in the USA which is where he met Carolyn. In addition to working as a Management Consultant in London and Hong Kong, he spent ten years as Course Director and Senior Lecturer at Southbank University in London. He is also Managing Director of two Medical Device companies specialising in the prevention of pressure ulcers/injuries and the promotion of optimum skin integrity. Residents will be offered new skin protection protocols such as the Repose Range of pressure care products, Skin Protectas™ Dermis Plus Pads and Hip Protectas™
Mrs Carolyn Thomas RN, Director
Carolyn was born in Michigan USA and is a UK Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science Degree in advanced nursing studies with a minor in psychology. Carolyn’s specialities are advanced wound care, palliative care, gerontology and chronic disease management. Sadly, she lost her own mother to Alzheimer’s so memory care with dignity and respect resonates in a very personal way in her practices, values and ethics. Carolyn works closely on all aspects of patient care and safety.
Mrs Tsvetomira Nikolova-Palanchova (Mira), Registered Manager
Mira was born in Bulgaria and is a UK resident. With a first university degree in hand woven tapestries and second degree in marketing and management Mira found her passion in health and social care in 2006. Mira started her career as a care assistant in a care home in Chester, and worked as a live-in carer in England, Wales and Scotland. Later on Mira settled in Taunton and became a Care Assistant for a domiciliary care company where she gained her qualification in Health and Social Care. After working her way up from Care Assistant to Supervisor and gaining QCF level 5, Mira became Deputy Care Manager for Home Instead Taunton before joining The Koppers in 2019 as Registered Manager. Mira’s specialities are live-in care, community, sensory impairments and older people with dementia. Mira works closely with Carolyn to ensure all aspects of the residents’ care, safety and quality of life in the home.
